Meet People Where They’re At

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;
to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may bepartaker of it with you.  ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭9:19, 22-23‬

These verses demonstrate Paul’s ultimate commitment to saving souls. He did whatever it took and became whoever he needed to be for the sake of those he was preaching to. Basically, he met people where they were at and became what they needed him to be in order to serve them that he might win the more. What an excellent example for us to follow!

I like to say, “You have to meet people where they’re at and then give them nudges. The amount of the nudge depends on where they’re at.”

We have to use our best judgment with this by learning to slow down and do our best to understand people’s needs. Maybe someone just needs a listening ear or to know that we love and respect them before their heart is open to listening to the truth. By humbling ourselves and becoming what they need with discernment and patience, we will be more likely to open the door to teach the gospel and save some. May we sacrifice ourselves in this way for the gospel’s sake.

Prayer:
Merciful Father, thank You for sending us what we needed for salvation. I will strive each day to show Your love by giving others what they need to draw them closer to Your truth so that they too can be saved. In Jesus, Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
