Baptism’s Truth

Oh Baptism, with so many conflicting teachings, where can I find your proof for truth?

Tradition or conviction?

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved…” Mark‬ ‭16:16‬

Sprinkle or immerse?

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death… Romans‬ ‭6:4‬

Remission or gesture?

“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…” Acts‬ ‭2:38‬‬

Immediate or wait?

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts‬ ‭22:16

Saves or afterthought?

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism…. I Peter‬ ‭3:21‬

Unto or into?

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians‬ ‭3:27‬

Necessary or optional?

“….unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” John‬ ‭3:5

Yay Baptism! Your proof is in the truth!

Prayer:
How Your word is truth, my God! Whenever I need an answer, I know I can find proof in Your truth. Thank You for the clarity in understanding baptism even though there is much conflict on this teaching.  I see that it is not baptism alone that saves, but is a part of Your plan in obeying the gospel. Along with a heart that believes, repents, and confesses, one who is buried in water dies with Christ and then is resurrected with Him thus resulting in the remission of sins. May all who seek this redemption run quickly to their watery grave to be raised in newness of life, being born again to enter Your kingdom of heaven. How wonderful to put on Christ by Your merciful work of baptism! Amen!

Truth in love,
Heather
