Poem:  Like a Friend

So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Exodus‬ ‭33:11a

The tent of meeting,
You would go,
Face to face,
Wisdom to bestow.

Like a friend,
He spoke to you,
Giving sound advice,
Direct answers too.

His full glory,
He never could give,
To see His face,
No one could live.

But He passed by,
You saw from behind,
It changed you,
Made your face shine.

People were afraid,
To come near,
Radiance required a veil,
To settle their fear.

How would it be,
To speak like a friend,
With God Almighty,
Were He to descend?

Inspired by Exodus 33-34

Prayer:
God Almighty, I can’t fathom what it would be like if You spoke to me like a friend. So many times I desire this, yet wonder if Your glory would be too great for me. You’re not like any friend one could have here on earth. You are far above humanity, and to be able to even get a glimpse of You or even directly hear Your voice would change me forever. For now, I will be satisfied with our communication through Your word and prayer knowing that I can always trust in the things You have ordained. Thank You for the ones, such as Moses, that have gone before me that You saw fit to extend a special relationship to
bring about Your ultimate will of redeeming sinners of which I am one. I look forward to the day when we can all praise You face to face. In the name of Christ, Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
