Repent! Repent! Repent!

“Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.” Luke 3:7-8

Vipers!

That’s what John called you.

Why?

Because you needed fruits worthy of repentence.

But how?

Be charitable – always willing to give to others out of your abundance

Be fair – collect no more money than necessary

Be honest – never falsely accuse another

Be patient – do not use force to collect money

Be content – your wages are enough

Be aware – you are not protected just because Abraham is your father

Repent! Repent! Repent!

Bear good fruit before the axe is laid at the root of the tree, cutting you off to be thrown into the fire.

And so it will be also for anyone who has become a son of Abraham through Christ yet does not bear fruits worthy of repentance.

Repent! Repent! Repent!

Luke 3:7-14

Prayer:
My righteous God, I do not want to be a viper but a beloved child of Abraham. Thank you that You have given me the opportunity to be an heir of the seed of Abraham through Christ. I will honor this blessing by bearing fruits worthy of repentence. I will be charitable, willing to give to others out of my abundance. I will be fair in dealing with others especially in matters of money. I will be honest and not accuse others falsely. I will be patient in not using force for my gain. I will be content with such as the things that I have knowing that You provide all that I need. I will be aware that as a child of Abraham my life needs to be a reflection of my repentence otherwise I will be at risk to be cut off and thrown into the fire. Please have mercy on my failings and show me the way of true repentence and salvation. Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
