Poem: Does Your Heart Burn?

They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32

Unaware of His presence,
Walking with Him,
Talking with Him,
Their hearts burned.

Just another man,
On a journey to Emmaus,
But something was different,
Because their hearts burned.

He taught from Scripture,
He broke bread and blessed it,
Their eyes were opened,
As their hearts burned.

Does your heart burn,
Walking with Him,
Talking with Him,
Aware of His presence?

Does Your heart burn,
Or is He just another man,
Who took a journey on a road,
Or is something different?

Does your heart burn,
When the Scriptures are read,
The bread is broken and blessed,
And your eyes are opened?

May our hearts burn,
For He is in our presence,
Different from every man,
Opening our eyes with His words.

Prayer:
My Holy Father, Your only Son, Jesus, walked upon this earth and taught of His redemption of mankind. No other man is like Him and will ever be for He is perfect in every way, willing to die for all of His creation, and being resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, He sits at Your right hand — exalted above all creation. Yet, He is always near in spirit as I walk and talk with Him. Jesus, my heart burns with amazement in Your presence as I know that You have been resurrected from the dead and are always there to guide my footsteps. Your words are precious to my soul, and I yearn to hear Your voice and see Your face. One day I will. Thanks be to God! Amen!

Truth in love,
Heather

  1. Definitely something to achieve! There are times I experience this but not near enough! Thanks for the encouragement!
