For who knows what is good for a man during his lifetime, during the few years of his futile life? He will spend them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun? Ecclesiastes 6:12
Each day you do
The deeds you believe
Creates a better future
A gift to receive
Do you really know
What’s good for man
The future’s uncertain
Will your works stand
Under the sun
You just can’t know
Your life is futile
On this earth below
You are a shadow
So what do you do
Look beyond the sun
For an everlasting view
Prayer:
Father, life is futile if I’m looking at it from the perspective of just earth. I can do so many wonderful things but who knows what will come after me to destroy all of it. But yet, when I look to You, my eternal Provider, I know that the shadow of my life can mean something everlasting not only to me but to generations to come. So, in the midst of all my earthly accomplishments, I will be sure that my efforts are a reflection and rememberance of the brighter future to be had beyond the sun. May I be an influence for a future generation that does the same. Amen.
Truth in love,
Heather
