“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”Psalms 8:3-4
Did you look at the moon and stars this morning? If so, did you look at them in amazement of what God has created or did you not give them much thought? Maybe they have lost their wonder to you because science gives us a natural explanation about how they get their light. When things are mysterious, we tend to be more curious about them and attribute them to something beyond understanding, but when we receive a plausible explanation about the mystery, it becomes less peculiar and more common.
No matter what feasible explanations we find for things in our universe, there still had to be a creator of the things we are trying to explain. When we understand that God is the creator, we can still be in amazement of the heavens in wonder of how the finger of God created the beauty of the moon and stars, and that in the midst of all that He has created, man is who He is mindful of and His most special creation.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, my God, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! How amazing are the stars and the moon that I see in the early hours of the morning. It is Your finger that created them, and I’m humbled that You would even consider man so special among all your creation. Amen.
Truth in love,
Heather
