“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”I Corinthians 10:13
In the context, Paul is explaining some of the failures of the Israelites and their punishments. He says that these are examples for our admonition (for caution or warning) that we should not lust after evil as they lusted (6, 11). Therefore, we need to take heed to these examples lest we fall as they did (12).
God has given us everything we need to overcome temptation. When we truly believe that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and always provides us with the way of escape, we will find it and overcome temptation. The escape may not be easy or what we want to do, but it is always there. When we have this confidence, we will find victory in Christ.
Father, I know each day brings about its own temptations, but I have the confidence that no matter what I face, You give me the way of escape, and that I am strong enough to bear any burdens by choosing the right path in Christ no matter how difficult it is. I love You, and I attribute all of my victories to Your faithfulness. Amen.
Truth in love,
