Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5
So many are grieved and sorrowful by losses from Hurricane Harvey. In the midst of all this, let us be provoked to remember Jesus who has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. He suffered great chastisement for our peace; an enduring peace to have even when our own sorrows seem unbearable. He was stricken, smitten, and afflicted so that today you could be healed by His stripes no matter your circumstances. No one and nothing can take that away from you without your choosing. Not even Hurricane Harvey!
Prayer:
There is always hope in the midst of our sorrows, and You, Father have provided it through Christ. There is so much grief in this world, but yet there is so much we can hope for because Jesus has borne the stripes for our healing. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities so that we could have peace. Thank you, God! In all circumstances I will never forget this beautiful sacrifice and take comfort in knowing that Jesus is bearing all my sufferings every day. Amen.
Truth the love,
Heather
