Sunday Reflection: Confidence Because of Jesus

“For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur. And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence, while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” Acts‬ ‭4:27-30

Prayer:
Holy God, I am strengthened by the boldness of Peter and John who were jailed and threatened not to speak of Jesus, yet they determined it right to give heed to You rather than men and continue to speak what they had seen and heard. What confidence this gave Your followers as they raised their voice to You in recognition of the mighty works You have done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus. This is the power of the gospel at work. This is the confidence in knowing that You had predetermined a plan whereby Your annointed Son would die at the hands of those against Him, and then defeat their wickedness by His resurrection from the dead. Today I meditate on this victory proclaimed and demonstrated by the Holy Spirit as I eat and drink in remembrance that Jesus is why I am a bond-servant who will boldly give heed to You, my Lord, rather than men. Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
