Sunday Reflection: Purge the Leaven

Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I Corinthians‬ ‭5:6-8‬

Prayer:
Merciful Lord, in the days of old, when Your people needed redemption from a wicked nation, You had them sacrifice a lamb so its blood would be the symbol of protection from the angel of death upon their doorpost. Each year afterwards, Your people would remember this Passover by removing the leaven from their homes and feasting on unleaven bread as a reminder of Your mercy in their quick exit from the burdens of Egypt. Today, Christ is the Passover lamb Who redeems us from the burdens of sin. Therefore, I purge any leaven of wickedness and malice even if it means withdrawing fellowship from unruly brethren in hopes that this will draw them back to Christ as I strive to live by the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Upon this day, I glory in the feast of unleaven bread in rememberance of the Passover Lamb Whose blood is the protection of His people from the eternal death. Thank you, God, for the mercy and redemption all men can have through Christ. Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
