For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. Ephesians 2:14-16
There was a time where God found it necessary to give a special covenant with a law of commandments to a specific people to bring about the promise of a Savior. It was a time in which others were strangers of this covenant of promise. But now, the Savior has shed His blood and has abolished the barrier of separation contained in the law by drawing anyone near to Him who will hear His message of peace. All enmity can be put to death and peace can be found between all men as Jesus has reconciled all to God in one body through the cross.
Prayer:
God of peace, God of mercy, God of love; thank you for Christ who is the source of peace between all hostility. He alone can take what once seemed impossible to resolve and bring about unity between even the greatest of foes. Thus, my Lord, I will seek peace through Christ by living, proclaiming, and partaking of His blood. Amen.
