Sunday Reflection: His Time

Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, that He said to His disciples, “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” Matthew 26:1-2

It was His time. He knew it. He had taught, healed, raised the dead, walked on water, cast out demons, and done so much more to prove without a doubt that He was the Son of Man prophesied by the holy scriptures. Now was the fullness of time to complete His earthly mission. It was to come to a dramatic conclusion by crucifixion of the most righteous, perfect man to dwell on this earth. Who could imagine that this would be the fate of such a holy man who had demonstrated such miraculous power? Even though He had prepared them for this moment, could His disciples really believe that this was going to happen? Could their hearts really understand the brevity of what they were about to witness?

Prayer:
Holy God, Jesus came and proved that He was the Son of Man of which the scriptures prophesied. So many proofs, so many wonders were seen that were beyond explanation and yet He died by crucifixion in submission to Your will to give hope to hopelessly lost generations. As a witness of His earthly deeds, it would’ve been hard and unbelievable to even hear Him express that the time was near for Him to be delivered up to be crucified. But, it was true and His disciples had to face this reality no matter their lack of understanding. Father, though I was not a witness of these things, I believe as a disciple of the Son of Man that He was crucified for my sins. Thank you that I have hope in Jesus who was crucified in my stead, and that I can commemorate His glorious deed by the body of bread and blood of drink in which I receive on this Lord’s day. Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
