Things that I know,
Words that I have many times read,
I need to be reminded of,
So my soul will continually be fed.
To revisit simple things,
Even when they seem trite,
Gives my mind a boost,
Confirming my inner light.
It’s not always about the new,
But delighting in the old;
Remembering the basic truths,
Of faith, hope, and love I hold.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:1-2, 5, 8
Prayer:
I love Your word, O LORD. I enjoy how I can start with basic truths and then expand my knowledge to gain a deeper understanding. Through Your wisdom I have a lifetime of growth and as I mature I find myself delving into more complex matters that provoke deep thought. However, I realize that sometimes this new growth can be exhausting and I need to be reminded of the simplicity of the message to feed my soul. Thank you, Holy God, for demonstrating Your love for me through Christ’s death. Thank you that my faith in Him gives me peace with You as I have access to Your grace. Thank you that this gives me a hope that will not disappoint. How my soul is continually fed as I confirm my inner light by delightfully revisting these certainties of old. Amen.
Truth in love,
Heather
I especially liked the last part. It reminded me of Jeremiah 6:16 – Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is and walk in it. Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, “We will not walk in it.”
