Poem: Hurt and Scared

It hurts,
Our shaky past;
Will this time be different?
Will the changes last?

I want to be close once more,
To have that loving connection,
But I’m scared to give myself,
Over to your affection.

I must be vunerable again,
Lest I lose this opportunity,
Where love can heal our hearts,
To rejoice in restored unity.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” I Peter 4:8

Prayer:
Father, I understand there are things that can happen in my life that hurt and make me scared to continue to pursue a close relatonship. In these circumstances it is not easy to get over past letdowns and to give someone another chance. Yet, there are times that I need to do this in spite of my fear lest I miss the opportunity to seek healing for myself and another by Your love. Please give me the ferver and wisdom to open my heart and be vunerable once again so that I can strive to encourage the joyful restoration of unity. Amen.
