Poem: Arise Widow’s Son

And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother. Luke 7:14-15

Her husband dead;
Now the widow is at the gate,
Her only son in his burial bed.

He had as He saw,
Her deep pains of grief,
Knowing He could stop it all.

He used from on high,
To raise him from the dead,
No longer will she cry.

Was the word commanded;
The dead sat up and spoke,
Back to his mother he was handed.

All proclaimed as they feared;
A great prophet has arisen,
To His people God has appeared.

Luke 7:12-16

What a beautiful blessing You bestow upon a woman to be a wife and mother, my LORD God. To lose such precious people in life would bring anyone to the depths of their griefs. And yet, through all of this You provide a place of compassion and hope. I know this because when Jesus was in the flesh He proved Your love and power. And though He is not physically here with us on earth to raise from the dead as He did for Your glory, He is at Your side in His risen place to grieve with us and petition for our entrance into Your kingdom where there will be no more tears. Then, those of us who have lived faithfully will be reunited in a sweet and glorious reunion before our Lord! Amen!

Truth in love,
