He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.” John 21:17
This touched my heart this morning. For Jesus to ask Peter directly if he loved Him, and then when Peter says yes, He tells Him to take care of His sheep, just shows how serious Jesus is about His people.
To love Christ is to love His people.
Someone I know has left the faith. I’ve texted them and have gotten no response, and I’ve wondered if I should do more. I’ve had this nagging voice in my head that keeps saying, “Go get them.” After reading this I know what I must do. I must be a part of tending His sheep by leaving the 99 to go find the 1.
