It’s hard to have conversations that carry a lot of baggage, but they must be had if you’re ever going to empty the suitcases.
“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
Prayer:
My God of peace, I know it is Your desire for me to live peaceably with everyone as much as possible — especially my brethren and even more importantly with those of my household. However, having close relationships with others means that sometimes we carry a lot of baggage from our past mistakes, hurts, annoyances, and ongoing experiences with each other. Anytime there is something that is producing strife between another and myself, let me be bold and patient enough to address it with a loving spirit that seeks reconciliation to move forward, putting the past behind us, and reaching forward to a stronger relationship with Christ as our center. In this way, may our gift upon Your alter of mercy be acceptable to You. Amen.
Truth in love,
Heather
