Poem: Worldly Rebellion

It feels liberating,
To allow your thoughts to go there.
You know it’s not right,
But it just feels good to be free of fighting it;
To allow it to flow through your mind,
And feel the excitement it brings in the moment.

Then reality hits,
Of what you’ve just done to your heart.
You have fed it with the lust of the eyes,
Nurtured it with the lust of the flesh;
To seek nourishment in the pride of life,
And given opportunity to satisfy worldly rebellion.

For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. I John‬ ‭2:16‬

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I understand that sin begins with the desires of the heart. Forgive me when I allow my thoughts to go to the places that will influence me to partake in the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. These thoughts are manifestations of the worldly rebellion that I still need to purge from myself. I determine to fight this fallacy so that I will not be of the world but of You, most gracious Father. Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
