“Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.” John 9:7
Why did this man have to go wash in the pool to receive his sight? Jesus had healed many others with just a touch. Why was this time different?
I don’t know, but it gives me the impression that doing what Jesus ask of us no matter our understanding is necessary to receive His promises.
It reminds me of the story of Naaman the leper who thought it was ridiculous that a prophet of God told him to go wash seven times in the dirty Jordan River to be healed, yet when he finally did the “ridiculous” he received his promise of healing and was cured of his disease (2 Kings 5:8-14).
What about God’s other promises? If we have not obeyed in the way God has instructed, can we expect to receive what God has promised?
