Vision of a Christian

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew‬ ‭22:37‬

I cannot think of a better verse for a Christian to establish the foundation of their vision as a follower of God than this one. Jesus makes it clear that this is what everything builds upon. If you believe that God is your Creator, then there is no other commitment you can make above this that will bring you true purpose in life. Determining to love God with your whole heart, soul, and mind will bring clarity to many decisions that you will make in life’s journey, and who you should be in the different roles you may find yourself in such as a husband/wife, father/mother, daughter/son, brother/sister, or friend. There is no middle ground in loving God in this way. Either you love Him by trusting and serving Him according to His will or you don’t. While there will be times of struggles that will test your devotion, it is your commitment to serve your Creator wholeheartedly that will carry you through knowing that you love Him because He first loved you (John 4:19).

Prayer:
My Father of love and mercy, I commit myself to loving You with my whole heart, soul, and mind. I know in doing this, I will live a life with godly purpose in whatever circumstances I am in. I understand that striving to fulfill this vision will have great challenges of which I will have to grow in knowledge, completely trust in You, and choose Your will over my own desires. I give my life to You not because I am forced to, but because I am inclined to by the beauty of Your love for me as You chose to sacrifice Your beloved Son for the sake of my sinful soul. Thank You for loving me in this way, and please forgive me for the times that I do not live up to Jesus’ command of loving You. In Jesus, Amen.

Truth in love,
Heather
